A student in Pretoria died after being pushed from the seventh floor

Two men were arrested after allegedly charging an 18-year-old student from the seventh floor of a block of apartments in Arcadia, east of Pretoria, in the early hours of Saturday.

"According to an eyewitness, the victim was involved in an argument with the suspects before he was pushed," said police spokesman Captain Daniel Mavimbela.

Mavimbela said the student was taken to the hospital but died that day.

He said the police worked "tirelessly" during the night and arrested the two men around noon.

The pair, aged 23 and 27, were charged with murder and are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court soon.

Local police chief Ramkamke Kakana praised the officers for the quick arrests.

"We should also thank the informers and other ordinary members of the community for providing us with information that also led to the identification and intimidation of the suspects," Kakana said.
