Pedestrians hit a driveway in a vehicle in Beleleigh, police investigating

A woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car on the morning trail south of Brisbane.

At about 4.45 am, the woman in her 60s was walking down the path along Milan Street in Banley when the car seemed to have abandoned the road and hit it.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said that the woman had suffered "significant primary injury" and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition.

MediaThe woman was wounded on Milan Street, near Hanney Street in Banli.

The male driver was not hurt, and he believed he was talking to the police.

Sergeant Binlay, Linda Smith, said it was too early to say how or why the man had driven off the road.

Lieutenant Smith said that the Armed Forensics Unit is investigating the case and remains on a morning scene.

"Any witnesses or someone with dashcam footage should go to the Springwood crash unit legal unit," she said.
