Diabetes, another reason to take care of yourself

This is the World Diabetes Day, Diabetes Rouyn-Noranda wants to demystify this chronic disease.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by the pancreas, which does not provide enough insulin to circulate glucose, and therefore sugar, in the blood.

People who have it must therefore inject insulin several times a day. It is diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.

Type 2 diabetes was developed in adulthood due to poor living habits, such as poor nutrition, lack of physical activity or socioeconomic factors.

The Diabetes Administrator Rouyn-Noranda, Anne-Marie Trepagnier, has been living with type 1 diabetes for 23 years.

She sees her illness as a message to take care of her.

Of course, insulin is always the number one solution. This also brings us to strictness, every day, we must monitor several times a day with the consumption of sugar, insulin, and drugs. "

Anne Marie Trepanyan expects a child in the coming months, a difficult pregnancy that requires even more toughness to control her diabetes.

The young woman adds that World Day is also used to raise awareness.

"We really want to inform them about the disease, to make them talk as much as possible, because the more we talk about it, the more people will be aware of the disease, [ils] Can be taken care of. We are fortunate enough, in the area, to be surrounded so well by the best teams. "
