In an interview last Monday (29), President Yair Boulsonaro (PSL) defended the change of educator Paolo Freire as the education patron in Brazil. The information is from the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.

The president's statement came at the opening of Agrishow, in Ribeirão Preto (SP). In a conversation with an eight-year-old girl, Boulsonro said the current patron would "change." The title was given to Paulo Ferreira in 2012 after a bill was passed. A possible amendment would need to be approved by Congress.

"Maybe we have a patron of education, no longer a boring patron, there is no need to know who it is, what we have so far, because it will change, we expect someone else," the president said.

During the campaign, Bolsonaro was critical of the method of literacy developed by Paolo Ferrier and positioned against its influence in Brazilian public schools.
