The package was found around 8:45 in Terminal 1 at the airport.

On Wednesday night, Toronto Pearson International Airport said on Twitter that the package in question is a piece of unattended luggage that is located on the third floor of the terminal.

"It's on the public side so only after the registration desk but before the security," Konst. Akhil Mukan told CP24 away.

The cargo unit of Phil's regional police service was called to investigate part of the affected terminal was closed.

On Thursday morning, Peel police confirmed that the case contained items used for routine checks of security checkpoints and apparently was left by a partner at the airport after it was used.

The explosive unit cleared the scene.
