The new millionaire of BC
Sometimes bad luck smiles at you.
At least she did in the case of the new millionaire of the BBC.
Joseph Christmanson says he usually chooses his numbers, but when he bought his Max Lottery ticket on December 21, 2018, he let the lady play her part instead of using the quick pick option.
The Camelope man matched all seven numbers to win the Max Maxmillion Lottery.
"I checked a few tickets, I could not believe it," Christmanson said. "The retailer raised milk beside me and saw that I won, it is so excited for me."
Christmanson bought and tested his winnings at the Grant Grant convenience store on Fortune Drive in Kampel.
"The first thing I did was call my closest friend, he thought I was joking."
Christmanson has been playing the Lotto Max regularly since he was released in 2009. "I also play all the other games, I choose my numbers like my birthday and this year, but not this time, of course I do not," he says. Said, adding that he did not have much time to think about what he was going to do with all the money.
Despite his calm demeanor about victory, Kristmanson makes some travel plans in the mix.
"I'd like to go to Australia and I think I plan to plan something for the New Year," he said, noting that the spirit of the giving season is still on him.
"I will definitely contribute some of this victory and help those I can."
Kristmanson is among the 39 British Columbia to win the Max Lotillions Max Lotillions so far in 2018.
