A child injured in a three-car collision on Route 10 in Brossard Thursday is no longer in critical condition, the provincial police said on Friday.

"We are no longer afraid of the child's life," said Sergeant. Naveve Bruneau of Surrey du Quebec.

The boy was among three wounded passengers in one of the cars. The 42-year-old driver died in an accident when she lost control of her Mazda, crossed the highway and bombed two vehicles to the east.

The drivers of these vehicles were injured, but not critically.

Another child in Mazda was wounded, and a 46-year-old man in the front seat was still in critical condition.

The accident took place around 17:30. Thursday. Police closed both directions of Route 10 for several hours, when accident testers examined the scene.

Brunau said the police still do not know the reason for the accident.
