Most of the years, December offers a spectacular light show in the sky, known to astronomy enthusiasts as the Geminid meteor shower.
This year, the celestial show is set to peak between Thursday and Friday, followed by a close-up bonus visit by 46P / Wirtanen, a comet made clear from Earth this year.
The comet will be visible to the naked eye when it flies until Sunday. as per Sky & Telescope This magazine will also be among the 10 closest approaches to the Earth comet since 1950 and the 20th closest approach of a comet dating back to the ninth century.
The comet was first identified in 1948 by American astronomer Carl Wirtanen of Wisconsin.
While the Persian meteors target in August is better known, astronomers said that Minid is showing a better performance with the best display of shooting stars.
Geminid will be visible both in the northern and southern hemisphere.
