COVID-19 cases in Africa near 8.43 million: CDC in Africa

ADDIS ABABA, October 17 (Shinhua) – The number of COVID-19 cases approved in Africa reached 8,426,107 cases as of Sunday evening, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of Africa (Africa CDC).

The CDC of Africa, the health agency specializing in the African Union (AU), said the death toll from the epidemic across the continent stands at 215,467.

About 7,801,688 patients across the continent have recovered from the disease so far, according to the agency.

According to the agency, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Ethiopia are among the countries with the most cases on the continent.

In terms of volume of cases, South Africa is the most affected region, followed by the northern and eastern parts of the continent, while Central Africa is the most affected region on the continent, according to the CDC of Africa. Enditem
