Mobile workers in northern Ethiopia are vulnerable to the transmission of visceriasis – daily science



Visceral Ischemia (VL) is a life-threatening disease transmitted by a bite of a sand fly. Between 3,700 and 7,400 people in Ethiopia are infected each year, especially in northern, agricultural areas with favorable climate and environment to fly and fly vectors. Research suggests that transient populations in Ethiopia may be particularly vulnerable to acquiring and dying from VL.
