T20 World Cup: Suresh Reina tells India to do it for fear of Kohli

Former India winger Suresh Reina says Virat Kohli deserves to remove the curtains during his captaincy at T20 by winning the shortest World Cup in the UAE and Oman. Coley will leave his post as T20 captain after the World Cup and Reina said the talistical punch deserves an appropriate farewell from his teammates. India will start its campaign against Pakistani rival Pakistan in Dubai on October 24th. “For India, the message of the T20 World Cup in the Men’s World Cup is simple – do it for awe.

“This will probably be his last time in this tournament as captain, so it is very important for him to make everyone believe that we can do it and that we will get behind him,” Reina wrote in an ICC column.

“India fans can’t wait for the 2020 T20 World Cup for men to start for this reason. We have the players, we have the momentum – we just have to get out there and execute now.”

Reina feels that the Indian players appearing in the IPL in the UAE can help them during the World Cup.

“All of our players have just played in the Indian Premier League in the UAE and they have played themselves in excellent shape with eight or nine games in this environment.

“It gives India an advantage over all the other teams and makes it one of the big favorites to win the T20 World Cup in my opinion,” he said.

“The conditions in the UAE are very similar to what we play in India and also in Pakistan. This is a good opportunity for Asian teams to come and play their natural game.”

Reina believes that the key to India’s success in the tournament lies in the appearance of the first three strokes.

“For me, the key to batting success in India is in the top three. Rohit Sharma is a gun actress – he has a brilliant record at ICC events in the past and has had an excellent IPL.

“We need Rohit, KL Rachel and Virat to hit up to 15 agers and lay down the platform. They can set the momentum for the India team in that,” he said.

“There are a lot of electrical combinations in the middle order and it is clear that Rashaba Pant is going to play a major role there. Hardik Pandia is also very capable as a power striker.

“But if the first three are still there at this stage of the inning, there is no target that India will not be able to pursue,” Reina added.

He believes the Mystery Spinner and Ark Chakravarti are set to play a crucial role for India in the tournament, given the slow nature of the pitches in the UAE.

“My experience at IPL has been that the hairs in the UAE and Oman will be very, very challenging when it comes to mystery spinners.

“It makes Varun Chakravarthy the main pick in the bowling attack in India. He has shown he can take advantage of the pace of the pitches,” Reina said.

“Arun has only played in three T20Is but I’m not worried about inexperience. There is a lot of experience in this team, especially in the seam attack.

“Bovenswar Kumar in particular is leading the way when it comes to experience and knowledge of how to deal with the big games. The inclusion of Chardell Takur can also give additional strength to the fast pitches in Virat’s possession.”

From before

Reina is optimistic about India achieving something special in the tournament.

“We have been waiting for this T20 World Cup for a long time. Two difficult years have passed but I think we are going to see something special in the UAE and Oman.”
