This planet is about the size of Jupiter, but 10 times lighter

JAKARTA, SENAYANPOST.com – For those of you who enjoy the celestial phenomenon, there will be three asteroids passing near Earth, at the end of January 2021.

The Indonesian amateur astronomer, Marupin Sudibo, stated that the three asteroid phenomena were asteroid 65717 (1993 BX3), asteroid 2020 PP and asteroid 468727 (2010 JE87). Below is a detailed explanation.

1. Asteroid 65717 (1993 BX3)

It is said that the asteroid 65717 (1993 BX3) will pass near Earth on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

The asteroid 65717 (1993 BX3) was discovered in 1993, 246 m in diameter and is classified as an asteroid close to the Earth Apollo and therefore has an orbit that can intersect with the Earth’s orbit.

“On Sunday, January 17, 2021, this asteroid will pass near Earth with a distance of 18.5 times the average Earth-Moon distance, or equivalent to 7.1 million km,” Marupin said, Friday (1/1/2021) .

However, Marupin said, this asteroid has no potential to collide with Earth, at least until the next century.

2. Asteroid 2020 PP

For the second asteroid, the asteroid PP 2020 is also expected to pass near Earth, i.e. on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Please note that asteroid PP 2020 was discovered in 2020, 218 m in diameter and is classified as close to Earth. Asteroids are classified in the Apollo class and therefore have similar orbits. Can intersect with the Earth’s orbit.

On Saturday (23/1/2021), this asteroid will pass near Earth at a distance of 18.2 times the average Earth-Moon distance, or the equivalent of seven million kilometers. Like the first asteroid, this second asteroid has no potential to collide with Earth, at least for the next century.

3. Asteroid 468727 (2010 JE87)

Next is the asteroid 468727 (2010 JE87) discovered in 2010, will pass near Earth on Monday (25/1/2021). Marupin said that the 257-meter-diameter asteroid is classified as an asteroid close to Earth in the Athenian class, so it has an orbit that can intersect with the Earth’s orbit.

On Monday, January 25, 2021, this asteroid will pass near Earth at a range of 15.8 times the average Earth-Moon distance or equivalent to 6.1 million kilometers.

Similar to asteroid 65717 (1993 BX3) and asteroid 2020 PP, asteroid 468727 (2010 JE87) also has no potential to collide with Earth, at least in the next century.
