Sergogins repeats the Latvian record in the half marathon in the competition in Barcelona
Barcelona, October 17, LETA. Latvian long-distance runner Dmitrijs Serjogins repeated the national record for a half marathon in the competition in Barcelona on Sunday, the Latvian Athletics Association (LVS) informs.
Sergei finished the 21.0975 km race in one hour, four minutes and 43 seconds. He is now a co-author of the Latvian record set by Valērijs Žolnerovičs in Lisbon in 2011.
The result achieved gave Sarjoin 11th place in the “Edreams Mitja Marato de Barcelona” race, where Daphne won the Ethiopian runner Haft Teklo with a finish time of 59 minutes and 39 seconds.
Sergei already holds the Latvian record in the ten-kilometer race – 29 minutes and ten seconds, achieved in Barcelona last year on the last day of the year. He is also at the top of the list of all-time best results for Latvian long distances: 12th place in the marathon (2.19: 49 – 2020), 15th place in the 10,000 meters (29: 56.95 – 2019) and 5000 meters 21st place (14: 14.66 – 2021 ).
This year, Sergogins won the gold medal of the Latvian champion in three distances: ten kilometers, 10,000 meters and a half marathon. Since 2013, he has become the Latvian champion 15 times.
