Bank institutions reach a peak in claims



The National Commission for Protection and Protection of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) revealed that banks broke records in claims at the end of last year.

Of the seven major banks, Citibanamex, Santander, BBVA Bancomer, Banorte and HSBC accounted for 81.1% of the sector's complaints last year.

And whether the banks' claims totaled 9.4 million, an increase of 6.3 percent in 2018, according to the Financial Bureau.

On the other hand, BBVA Bancomer, Inbursa and Banorte were able to reduce the complaints relative to those recorded in the previous year, of 2017.

Citibanamex, Santander, BBVA Bancomer, Banorte and HSBC accounted for 81.1% of complaints in 2018.

However, Scotiabank, Bancopal and Consnovo recorded a greater increase in complaints, with an annual rate of 119%, 114% and 94%, respectively.

Last year, losses due to financial fraud were 18,000 909 million pesos (mdp), which banks paid half to affected customers.

Fraud complaints amount to $ 9.2 million, an annual increase of 11%, equivalent to 98% of all recorded claims, with Banuree and Banregio having the highest percentage of decisions in favor of the user.

For the complaints presented, the Authority approved 36 banks with 70 million pesos and a total of 1,511 fines. That is, an average of 46,000 pesos per fine.
