Charles will be a good king to his country

When the Prince of Wales celebrates his 70th birthday, he does it with Camilla's love beside him. Not all are equally appreciated, says the Royal expert.

On February 6, 1952, Princess Elizabeth returned to the Royal Guest House in Kenya, where she traveled with her husband, Prince Philip. Where she gave the crushing message that her father, King George VI, had fallen to his home in England after a few years of cancer.

During the night, young Elizabeth, from the Princess, went to Queen for all the Commonwealth. Today she is the ruler who sat on the throne. Prince Charles, who became Crown Prince at the age of four, had a different approach to the rule of law than his mother. In an era when most people begin to prepare for retirement, Charles is still waiting to be king.

– Charles has been preparing for this role since his teens – and I think he will be a good king for his country when the time comes, Says King of House 2 expert Kjell Arne Totland to ABC Nyheter.

A lonely childhood

Prince Charles arrived on the world on November 14, 1948, as the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain and Prince Philip. While his mother had ten years of relatively carefree childhood until his father took over the throne in 1936, Charles felt in the press of huge expectations from an early age.

American historian and writer Sally Bedell Smith describes Charles as a quiet, sensitive child. He would look at his education at the Scottish Scottish Private School, Gordonstown, as a prison sentence.

It can take a long time between every time he saw something for his parents, or spent quality time with them.

"Elizabeth was often away from Charles as a child, she spent as much time as possible with her husband Phillip, who served as an officer in the Royal Navy and served in Malta, and celebrated her son's first birthday since being abroad. Rels at long intervals , Writes Bedell Smith at the Vanity Fair.

Prince Philip barely knew his own son during the first two years of Charles' life. The relationship between the two was tense and turbulent over the years – in the time before Diana's marriage in 1981, Charles and Philip were in exclusive contact through correspondence, according to the author.

A polarized relationship with the people

Kyle Arena Totland, as the head of Norway's leading royal family, met with what could creep and go by the monarchy, including the throne.

"I had the pleasure of meeting Prince Charles several times – both here and in Britain – I experience him as a friendly and satisfying person – alive and interesting about what is happening around him," he tells ABC News.

How is the British relationship with the Prince of Wales?

"It has been quite polarized for many years – perhaps especially after the sudden death of Princess Diana in 1997.

"However, I think to pay attention to the growing and understanding of the heir in recent years – especially after a television documentary and books about him in connection with the 70's.

"perfect match"

As he grew up, Charles soon became a wanted bachelor. The press liked to write about the prince's love life and tied it to a more aristocratic and glamorous beauty. His well-covered connection was with Camilla and Shand, later Parker Bowles, from they started dating in 1971.

In "Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Unrealistic Life," Sally Bedell describes the two as "perfect match."

"Charles loved Camilla so much that she loved life in the country and was not interested in fashion, they shared humor with him, and she always heard what he had to say. , Writes Bedell Smith.

In 1973, the relationship ended, partly because Charles was deployed in the Navy. Another reason should have been Camilla's "bad reputation" because of sex with Andrew Parker Bowles. Later that year she married Andrew, but occasionally she met Charles secretly.

The father pressed to marry

When he was in his early 30s, there was growing pressure on Charles to marry. It was expected that a potential bride should have a royal or aristocratic background, she should be a virgin and a Protestant. All these requirements were met by thirteen year old young Diana Spencer.

In February 1981, the news was that Charles and Diana Spencer were busy, and in July of the same year it was set for the "Wedding of the Century", where both gave their own at St. Paul's Cathedral, while nearly a billion watched television following the wedding ceremony around the world .

But in his book, Bedell reveals that Charles had to feel the pressure of his father to marry Diana.

The reporters wondered at one point whether Charles and Diana had spent two nights together before they got engaged, and then Phillip sent a letter to his son, the closest he'd been threatened to marry to save Diana's honor.

"He did not fall in love with Diana, he was not ready, he assumed his father was in love with him, so he read the letter as a flyer," Pamela Hicks, a friend of the family, told the book.

– too much

Kyle Arena and Totland think it was a struggle between the prince and the young man, at least initially.

"What she loved meant …" Charles said on the day of the engagement. I think he was taken by Diana and expects to share life and establish a family with her. But the two were too different, even first and foremostHe believes.

The couple received the sons of Prince William and Prince Harry together, but in the second half of the eighties it was clear that there were marital problems and in 1992 they were separated. In connection with a television documentary in 1994, Charles admitted that he and Camilla Parker Bowles had returned to contact after the marriage with Diana had begun to shave.

In 1996, the divorce was official – one year before Diana lost his life in a tragic car accident in Paris.

Before and after Camilla

Camilla Parker Bowles divorced her husband in 1995, and ten years later Charles and Camilla could finally announce their commitment. On April 9, 2005, the wedding ceremony was held between the two in Windsor Hall, followed by a religious blessing at the St. George Chapel in Windsor Castle.

– Charles himself does not hesitate to call Camilla's rock, and Charles undoubtedly looks much happier and happier in public with Camilla at his side, Totland notes.

What would the marriage to Camilla say about the relationship between the prince and the people, and in fact the prince and the press?

"It's not going to pass that some Britons still have a hard time getting Camilla as rescuers of Charles – and that it still contributes to some polarization of opinion.

"But I think most people with a hand in the heart see that Charles and Camilla are a good team to help and complement each other," says the King's house expert before continuing:

"Among the journalists who follow them on their travels around the world, they are two very popular – Camilla is actually experienced by many of them as the most courteous explainers in the royal family.

Before his time

While the Norwegian royal family seems very conspicuous and really happy when they operate this company's society in public space, the British Royal Tradition has traditionally shown something more formal and "stiffer" in public than we can serve here at home. But even there we have seen a softening in recent years, and this is not only for the younger generation.

– Prince Charles and his Camilla are opposed to a more casual style – especially on their travels abroad.I experienced myself as guests of our royal couple in Oslo a few years ago, Says Totland.

Despite his neutral political role, the Prince expressed his opinion on everything from modern architecture to organic agriculture, which does not always fall into the same good soil. At the Oslo Conference in 2010 he gave the climates climate agricultural leek.

– Many of the topics Prince of Wales has been busy for years, and as he has been criticized for commenting on, things that are currently at the top of the agenda all over the world – such as the environment, animal welfare and conservation of past architecture, States Totland.

"I think he still wants to show his interest in these matters as a king – but to a lesser extent come out with a controversy that can be seen as controversial until the Prince Charles is a wise man whose new role will be conscious." Or as he himself said in the film A new documentary a few days ago, "I'm not so stupid."

An impatient man

The Princess's 70th birthday has already been celebrated in several ways, but on Wednesday, November 14, there was a reception and dinner table at Buckingham Palace in London, with royal guests from many countries. In our guest list we find a pair of our king and a pair of crown prince.

In a documentary sent to the BBC, Prince William and Prince Harry tell of a father who works from early morning to late at night. They hope he will travel and spend more time with the grandchildren, even though they are skeptical about the fact that it will happen.

"He's an impatient person who used to do things yesterday, I think those who work with him are signifiers Said Charles' wife, the Duchess Camilla, in the same interview.

Kyle Arena Totland is convinced that one day Charles will appear on the throne as king after his mother. The idea that the title can be given directly to his eldest son, Prince William, is quick to erase.

"To skip the generation has never been a topical issue for Queen Elizabeth and her family. For them it is natural that the Prince of Wales should follow his mother as the next King of Britain.
