The 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup campaign for the Philippine national team's football team went down to win a victory with a 1-0 victory over Singapore in its opening tournament on Tuesday night at Panaad Park and a football stadium in the city of Bacolod.

Under the new coach Sven-Goren Eriksson, the Achilles did not disappoint their debut tournament as they showed a vigorous fight, punctuated by the 78-minute goal of Patrick Reichelt that turned out to be a marginal goal.

The game was tight in the opening half, when the two teams took advantage of their chances but failed to fulfill them, resulting in Neil-Neil taking a break.

In the second half, the Acacia came out more aggressive, taking the fight to Singapore and in the process found themselves solid scoring opportunities.

Their effort ended up paying dividends in the 78th minute when Mr. Reichelt converted the crossing of Captain Phil Younghusband, passing traffic to puncture the goal, sending crowds to the crowd for celebration.

Singapore tried to return the goal for the rest of the regulation, plus the five minutes and had chances, but the Philippine defense will hold on to keep the win and earn the three points that come with it.

"We got the three points but it was not an easy game, Singapore has very good players and they played very direct, it's very hard to play against them but I think we had a very good game technically and we had a good fighting spirit and I'm very happy for the whole country and the team "Said Mr. Erickson after their victory.

For the game hero Reichelt, victory was a good start for them and he was very happy to be scored and what turned out to be a winning goal.

"We had problems at first but it was amazing to play here at Panaad and for me to score a goal was very physical and it's a good start for us in the Suzuki Cup," said Kress Negros player.

The next for the Azaleals is a meeting with Timor-Liste on November 17 in Malaysia.
