The upcoming gadget from Spotify, a music player powered by a voice known as Car Thing, has just appeared in a handful of playbacks within the app they discovered MacRumors Collaborator Steve Mussar, who found the photos in the Spotify app code. These reproductions correspond fairly closely to the footage of the actual transaction filed as part of documents filed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which The edge Reporting Back in January.
Thanks to these adaptations, we have a much cleaner look at the evolving design of Spotify Car Thing, which features a large button on the right side, a color display and four buttons at the top. The previous official company where when the product was officially announced in 2019 introduced a much smaller screen.
However, the design of Spotify has since approached a smart display style, making sense given that now it looks more like a miniature infotainment monitor you will find in a modern car. These new adaptations feature the screen and possible interface design, in addition to different mounting models for connecting the device to different parts of the dashboard.
It is not known when or even if Spotify intends to officially launch the product. The company’s February event, which detailed its new Hi-Fi streaming level, came and went without any new information on Car Thing, and the device was announced in 2019 as a simple test product that will help Spotify understand better users ’listening habits while traveling.
So there is no official name for the product, a potential release date or any other information on whether it will ever leave the Spotify test lab and become a consumer car. But the updated design and FCC documents – and now the in-app processing – indicate that the product will be. We just do not know what it looks like now.
