The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation appealed to the court with a demand to transfer the property of the former head of the Republic of Mary El, Leonid Markalov, who is currently charged with taking bribes, state revenues, TASS reports referring to the official representative of the prosecutor's office Alexander Korno.
With a court decision positive, the property of the former official in the total amount of more than half a billion rubles, a residential complex located in the area of nature protection, apartments and other premises in Mari El and Moscow, which Merklov has acquired revenues from dubious sources, will go to the state's income.
The Prosecutor General's Office transferred 120 properties, as well as eight and a half million rubles, 224 thousand US dollars and 660,000 euros in cash.
Recall that Leonid Markelov wrote a request to resign in April 2017. That month, the court in Samani Moscow arrested the former official on suspicion of receiving 235 million rubles as bribes. According to the researchers, for this money Markelov intended to patronize and help receive payments from the state support for the development of an agricultural complex for one of the enterprises. In addition, the investigation imposes the illegal acquisition and maintenance of ammunition.
At the end of last year, IC IC representatives announced the completion of investigation of the criminal case against Leonid Markalov and his partners. The case will in fact be considered by the court in Nizhny Novgorod.
