Rocket League – Soon to be an exclusive epic games store?

Fortnite manufacturers now own manufacturers of the Rocket League and it could mean the game will be removed from Steam this year.

Epic Games has announced that it will acquire Pysonix, although there is uncertainty whether it means Rocket League will become an exclusive epic games store or not.

Some epic games paid for Pysonix have not been revealed, but considering the game has 57 million registered players they would not come cheap.

Epic did not respond to their reasons for acquisition but given their ongoing rivalry with Valve the appearance of the game on Steam is the biggest question to get out of the deal.

Initially, Epic seems to imply that the Rocket League will be removed from Steam at the end of 2019, after the transaction is formally completed.

But they then released a second statement which said that, regarding Steam, they had, "not announced plans to stop selling the game there."

"Missile League remains available for new buyers on steam, and long term plans will be announced in the future," reads the statement, which still sounds a lot like the game can be removed in the end.

Either way, Pysonix, who spoke with Variety, has promised that Steam users will still receive "patches, DLC and any other content that will reach the PC version of the game through the Epic Game Store."

We are still committed to providing a rocket league with frequent updates that have new features, new content and new ways to play the game as long as we have. "

Psyonix added: "In the long run, we expect to bring the Rocket League to the epic gaming store and leverage our new relationships to grow the game in ways that we can not do ourselves before, we believe bringing the Rocket League to new audiences with more support is a win for everyone."

Rocket League is just a Pysonix game on steam, and really their only successful game. Despite rumors, there has never been any hint of a continuation or a new game, from these comments it certainly seems like adding and improving the Rocket League is still the focus for the entrepreneur.
