A new study by a team of Russian and German scientists probably found the real reason behind the strange behavior of water on Mars. During the study, researchers found that there is a huge hole in the Mars atmosphere, it is interesting that the hole opens once every two years, reports Science Life.
Researchers who participated in the study have shown that this hole is a limited ventilation of water supply to space, and it also plays a crucial role in dumping the rest of the water on Earth's surface regions.
Some previous researchers have noted that there is high water vapor in the Mars atmosphere, and water used to migrate to polar regions. However, to date, scientists have been quite clear about the cycles of Mars water, and the real reason why Mars which was once habitable has now become an arid land.
The research report published in Geophysical Research Letters showed that the middle layer of the Martian atmosphere is directly responsible for controlling the water cycle of the red planet.
In the research report, the researchers also talked about how water escapes through the giant hole in the Martian atmosphere.
When it comes to Earth, summer in the northern and southern hemisphere is quite similar. But on Mars, things are not like Earth, because its orbit is much more eccentric. In March, summer in the southern hemisphere is much warmer than summer in the northern hemisphere because of the distance which is much closer to the sun.
During this period, a huge window is opened in the middle atmosphere of Mars between 60 and 90 kilometers in height, so water vapor escapes through this opening to the upper air.
