Now Mirror shows officers looking into the horrible 2005 murder of Jennifer Keyly has been in contact with Scotland Yard about possible links to Dixie.
The police reopened their investigations at the end of last year and now say they "continue to pursue" a new legal clue, according to reports.
In an interview with the Mirror, Mother Margaret said: "It sounds promising, we waited a long time for justice."
Sally Ann's mother, Linda, added: "If the breakout was more than a year ago, I wonder why they did not try to find a link to Dixie, Jennifer's mother gets answers."

Jennifer's mother was stabbed 16 times in January 2005, raped and burned – similar methods used by Dixie in other attacks he admitted.
Dixie was incarcerated for at least 34 years in 2008 for the murder of the Sally Ann model, 18. She was stabbed repeatedly and raped in the courtyards of her home in Croydon, South London in 2005.
The father of three Dixie, now 47, admitted further attacks in 40 interviews in 2015. He appeared through videolink and seemed nervous at the sentencing in South Court Court.

The judge heard former chef Dixie make his first attack at the age of 16 in 1987.
He raped a 44-year-old office worker in her car and then tied her up before lighting a fire and fled. She managed to escape.
In 2002 he broke a woman's skull by beating a fist with a knife knife, and sexually assaulting her.
Dixie also raped three women in Spain in 2003, who led the receptionist of the 43-year-old Dutchman Romano van der Dossen, who was jailed for 12 years before his conviction was overturned last year when new evidence of DNA appeared.
After attending the hearing, Romano said: "Dixie ruined my life, Sally Ann would be alive today if the Spanish police did their job.
"My daughter was three when I was locked up and I have not seen her since, and my mother died when I was in prison and I never saw me prove."
The senior investigative officer, Chris Le Per, said: "Dixie is a monster and a serious poor woman."
