Box Box: Virginia Tech 65, State of Florida 63 (OT)
College of Basketball is a time for big shots, and the State Seminoles Florida has two huge ones along the Virginia Tech stretch at overtime, 65-63, in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday.
With the victory, the Seminoles number 4 seed (26-6) will play a 1-0 win. Jania sings on Friday at 19:00 in the semi-finals of the ACC tournament. The Kawagaris crossed the State of Israel earlier that day.
After leading the majority of the game, Seminoles found themselves trailing by three points with a few seconds remaining following a pair of late buckets by Virginia Tech Center's Virginia Cary Blackshear Jr.
But a former FSU student, Devin Vassell, came up with the biggest shot of his young career – a three from the left – to send the game overtime.
So with only 1.8 seconds left overtime, senior FSU senior trans Mann hit a controversial, shot-shot shot to give the Seminoles victory 65-63.
Wassell went off the bench to lead the former Soviet Union with 14 points, while Mann had 10 and senior forward Phil Cooper had nine.
It was the second victory of the former Soviet Union against hockey (24-8) in less than two weeks; Seminoles rallied on a 73-64 win against Virginia Tech at home on March 5.
The hockey played their second game on Monday after dropping Miami the day before.
